In 2014, Racing Spirit commissioned Apex Circuit Design to develop the Bangsaen Street Circuit, venue for the five day Bangsaen Speed Festival since 2007, from a locally sanctioned track to a fully FIA homologated, Grade 3 circuit. Working in partnership with Gardini, an intensive safety upgrade was carried out over the following two years.
The circuit was widely applauded for its exciting elevation change and seaside location, but until 2015 the circuit and its infrastructure design was well below the standard required for international completion.
Apex led a complete redesign of the circuit alignment, as well as a review of all infrastructure used to establish the track. Bringing the much loved Speed Festival up to an international standard.
The FIA Circuits Commission granted design approval in 2017 and the Bangsaen Grand Prix has hosted international competition, including Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and TCR Asia, from June 2017.
