Through demonstration of our expertise, passion for the sport and knowledge of the series, Apex has become International Management Group's (IMG, commercial rights holders for the FIA World Rallycross Championship) preferred designer for World Rallycross circuits.

Apex has also taken an active role in the development of contemporary standards and guidelines, in conjunction with the FIA and IMG for the improvement of existing and development of new venues worldwide. To date Apex have prepared over 10 concepts for IMG, highlighting the possible feasibility of a Rallycross circuit in the desired location identified by the Client and IMG.

Barcelona was one of the proposed locations that benefitted from this high level concept planning that resulted in the approval of the concept from the FIA and IMG prior to detailed design and construction locally.

As this circuit was based on the inside of a frequently used international motorsport facility most notably visited by F1 and MotoGP, it was important to consider other users of the circuit and the minimisation of impact to those operations. The designs presented were considerate of this fact, which allowed for the permanent installation of the track without detriment to these headline events. The circuit, located on the inside of the arena section of turns 10-15, hosted its first round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in 2015 and will continue to do so in the coming years.
