PRIMRING
RUSSIA
The PrimRing project in the Primorsky Region of eastern Russia, is situated on 78 hectares of land under the control of Sumotori Machinery Group and was selected by the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF), its satellite member club the PAF and by Sumotori as the location for the first integrated multi-purpose commercial race resort destination for Russia.
Apex were commissioned in early 2011 to undertake the detailed design to accommodate FIA and FIM guidelines for a 3.7 km circuit, a CIK Category A compliant kart circuit, a 1.7 km FIM compliant motocross circuit and a 1/8th mile PAF compliant drag strip. A detailed masterplan formed part of the initial design development focused on commercial sustainability, a phased evolution and a commitment to social responsibility as well as commercial success.
The 3.7 km race circuit design was granted FIA Design Approval in May 2011, the 1.7 km FIM standard motocross track opened later that year and the CIK kart circuit was opened in 2013 for its first racing events. The main paddock was completed later in 2013 and now hosts regular drift and corporate events.
PrimRing has completed Phase 1 of the masterplan and has been operating commercially with the kart, motocross, drift, road safety and commercial property development. Funding for Phase 2 is expected through a cocktail of private and debt funding through State lending in Russia; this would include the main race circuit, the drag strip and further commercial and leisure development.
